1929 Wason Triple Cockpit Outboard Runabout
April 13, 2020
Mike with his 1931 Evinrude Electric Start Big Four
I have one of three 1929 Wason triple cockpit outboard runabouts made by the American Car & Foundry which is the last survivor and is hull #102. It is powered by a 1931 Evinrude electric start Big Four which we believe is one of 5 remaining engines that runs.
The boat, Jenny was restored over 10 years ago and was in need of a re due on some of the deck seams. They were cracked and opening up, so we carefully removed the old Sikaflex and using new mahogany colored Sikaflex, filled in the failed seams. I then taped out the seams and using some of the stain from the original restoration re stained the seams to match the color and I am now varnishing the seams.
This has been a learning experience and a lot of work but it will be so worth it once completed and back on the water.
