SCAMPY Adult Mentoring program




 

The SCAMPY adult mentoring program is a specialized utilization of the SCAMPY shop and facilities.
Adult members can bring in their own boats to be worked on while being mentored or mentoring fellow members.
The most important part of the adult program Is the restoration of donated boats for sale by SCAMPY to support its operation.

 

2025-2026 classes

Classes will begin Tuesday November 4 th. 2025.
Classes meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 9AM-Noon at the SCAMPY shop
located at 31125 Industrial Blvd Tavares Fl 32778.

 

Projects planned

  • First on deck is the Chris-Craft Rocket, which already has much work completed. Along with the hull work, a correct Hercules Chris-Craft K (95HP) engine has been acquired
  • The engine and will be re-worked under the guidance of SCAMPY engine expert Herb Hall.
  • Jeff Funk will lead on the hull work with assistance from Frank Miklos.
  • Frank will lead on interior work.
  • Plans are to have the Rocket completed and displayed at the 2026 Sunnyland Show this coming spring.

  • Following the Rocket’s completion is the much-anticipated 1930 25’ Dodge Runabout…less than five remain in the world.
  • A lot of work to do on this project, but a worthwhile endeavor and a lot of fun.

  • Following that is a 1950 Century Sea Maid.
  • The Adult Program has a full plate and will need volunteer students and workers to see these classics get finished.

    • If you have any interest in learning about and having fun working on these beautiful antique & classic boats, please join us!
    You will get your hands dirty but love every minute of it.
