Are you ready for a Really Big Blast?! Come on down to the St. Johns River Cruise and Sunnyland Festival!! As reported in the Nov. 30, ACBS Weekly Web Watch, the city of Tavares is hard at work on the dock situation. They have hired a reputable contractor to do the planning and while they will not be complete for this year, the temporary docks will be larger and will have finger piers providing slips to dock in as opposed to the linear arrangement last year. Two trips again this year, going South with an opening banquet Mar.17 in Palatka, that’s right, FYC docks are not repaired so we will have to run out of the Quality Inn Palatka again this year. The North opening banquet is also at the Quality Inn Palatka Mar. 24 after the Festival. Wonderful sights, great company and always an exciting adventure!

Captain Guy Marvin, III will lead us South. We launch Sun (Mar 17) at the ramp in Palatka just south of the US 17 bridge and dock at the Quality Inn just under the bridge to the north. Trailer parking is in the lot across the street from the motel office. Space is limited so be sure to tighten it up. On Monday (Mar 18) we will cruise north to Green Cove Springs for a feast at the Elks Lodge before returning to Palatka. Dinner on your own. Tuesday (Mar 19) we cruise up Dunn’s Creek to Crescent City where Amy and Jeff Haston will host another feast at their magnificent home on Crescent Lake. Then back to Palatka & dinner, again, on your own. Wednesday (Mar 20) we will stop for lunch in Welatka at Shrimp R Us with Zarka and Jim Wynn. It is spectacular!! Then on to Silver Glen where you can take a dip in the beautiful clear 72 degree spring water if you like. That evening we will be in Astor at the Astor Bridge Motel or Castaways. Dinner on your own at the Blackwater Inn. Thursday (Mar 21) grab breakfast and we will head back north taking Blue Creek from Astor to Lake George. Once we cross Lake George we will stop at Renegades, for another spectacular lunch before pulling out back in Palatka and heading to Tavares and the Sunnyland Festival!! The Festival is a must!

Captain Gerald Dake will lead us North. Sunday afternoon (Mar 24) after the Festival launch in Palatka (see directions to ramp above) and enjoy our opening banquet at the Quality Inn. Monday (Mar 25) run to Astor stopping for an incredible lunch at Shrimp R Us! Then it is on to the Astor Bridge Motel or Castaways in Astor. Tuesday (Mar 26) we head south to a fun destination, De Leon Springs, stopping at Lake Beresford Yacht Club for lunch and back to Astor. Wednesday (Mar 27) we will head for Palatka with lunch at Silver Glen Springs where you can if take a dip in the 72 degree water… if you like cold water. Thursday (Mar 28) we will run up Dunns Creek for lunch with our hosts, Amy and Jeff Haston at their home on Crescent Lake. Then back to Palatka. Friday (Mar 29) we will cruise to Renegades for lunch just north of Lake George. Then back to Palatka to pull our boats and share memories of a great Cruise!
