Sunnyland Chapter Autumn Poker Run
Boat Display and Poker Run
This event will occur in conjunction with the scheduled re-opening celebration of the Tavares seaplane base. The City of Tavares has graciously offered Sunnyland members the use of 12 to 14 boat slips (limited by boat length) from Friday, October 15th, through Sunday, October 17th. The displayed boats are intended to serve as part of the celebration (on Saturday, October 16th) and, hence, are expected to remain at the docks for viewing from around 9:00 AM (when the ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled) until about 1:00 PM. Seaplane arrivals will begin at 11:00 AM and are expected to last roughly two hours, after which participating boat owners will be signaled to perform a “drive-by” past the spectator stands (to be accompanied by announcements of the boats and their owners by Sunnyland President, Danny Ross). Live music will be offered at the local park from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
The Autumn Poker Run will begin at the discretion of the planning committee, following the boat parade. Poker antes, cash prizes, and card pick-up destinations will be presented by the planning committee at the day of the event.
Ride-Sharing (No Boat? No Problem!)
To accommodate our out-of-town (or currently “boat-less”) members, please let us know if you have space on your boat and are willing to share a ride. If you’re looking to hitch a ride, contact us for details (see below).
Lodging
The Tavares/Mt. Dora area has numerous hotels and bed-and-breakfast facilities in the vicinity. An internet search for area lodging will provide plenty of options.
