CONWAY BOATING CRUISE EVENT
JULY 12, 2019

The event took place on Friday starting at the Hoffner Ave boat ramp with a group of 8 boats and 14 people from Sunnyland and AOMCI participating. The outboard club was invited in the continuing effort to promote dual participation of the two clubs. Many of those participating were members of both organizations. Despite the forecast for early storms, the day turned out to be rain free and often sunny throughout the morning and early afternoon. The boating conditions were ideal with a light steady breeze providing some welcome relief from the heat. The boats cruised south through the four lakes that comprise the Conway Chain with a stop at John Taggart’s home on Little Lake Conway located at the north end of the chain. Everyone enjoyed a box lunch and then toured John’s air conditioned shop that is built in to his home. The walls in the shop are lined with photos, trophies and other memorabilia reflecting the boat racing history of John’s father Joe Taggart. The race boat situated inside of the shop was a real eye catcher and made for an interesting overall experience. Thanks to John and his family for hosting the lunch stop and shop tour.
