Butler Chain of Lakes Event
December 7, 2019
The Sunnyland and AOMCI boating event on the Butler Chain of Lakes took place on Saturday December 7th with perfect boating weather. The group gathered at the Sportsman Club which is located on the east shore of Lake Sheen. This facility is very boater friendly with two sets of launch ramps, great docks, a clubhouse, restrooms and covered pavilions. After launching, a group of boats toured north through the chain of lakes led by Terry Fiest in his Stancraft. Terry lives in the area and is very familiar with these lakes. The flotilla consisted of a variety of boats including a Lyman, an Aristocraft, two Glaspars, numerous Feather Crafts, a Correct Craft, a Chris-Craft, a Stan-Craft and a Bertram. There was also an interesting variety of small outboard boats and motors that were set up as a land display near the launch ramp.
After returning from the morning cruise, a pizza lunch was served at the pavilion which provided an opportunity for the group to get better acquainted and of course discuss all things boating. Many folks were not ready to leave right away and since the weather was so nice most decided to take a second cruise to extend the enjoyable day. Late afternoon found the boats being loaded back on their trailers at a relaxed pace with plenty of help available at the ramp.
Thanks to John Gaucci for organizing the event again this year.
