After a quick waterski run on Lake Dora Saturday morning we loaded the dogs in to the boat and did a tour of the chain of lakes with the intent on getting through the Dora canal before the now typical throng of boats show up by mid-morning. You had better go early if you want to experience the canal in a quiet and peaceful state. Otherwise you may find yourself as part of an almost steady parade of boats, jets skis and kayaks that has become a common occurrence in the canal on the weekend. Weekday boat traffic is still pretty light.

Almost immediately after the state shutdown in March, the waterways and beaches became an outdoor escape for many people and a way to break the monotony of the stay at home order. Boat sales and service are up and I suspect the on the water towing services are also busy as many people are now pulling their rarely used boats out of the garage or storage facility. The increased traffic is evident on most lakes that offer public access. I imagine this has been a boon for the marine industry and it is good to see families spending quality time together.
