Sunnyland Symposium Update
By: Lou Ronca
On Thursday June 25, twelve Sunnyland members gathered at the home of Barry West in Apopka for a two hour discussion on the restoration of the Chris Craft Constellation that Barry has undertaken. Barry reviewed the work completed to date which has been substantial. Much of the conversation centered around the use of scarf joints and how they were used in various locations. Barry pointed out how properly made scarf joints will be as strong or stronger than the board itself. Use of the scarf joint can save a great deal of lumber cost especially on a boat the size of the Constellation. This method is very effective on painted side boats and can make restoration of this boat more feasible.
Terry Fiest reviewed the finished reproduction of the Aqua board that was started in an earlier session.
