“Post-COVID” Harris Chain Cruise and Barbeque

Cruise Lake Dora and the scenic Dora Canal
This cruise will start at 9:00 AM at Gilbert Park in Mount Dora. The boats will cruise to Lake Harris and gather at the Hickory Point Recreational Park for a catered barbeque lunch. The park is located about four miles south of Tavares, adjacent to Little Lake Harris, at the north end of the Howie Bridge and offers ample parking and a sizeable day-use marina (no overnight mooring). Admission to the park is free; glass containers and alcoholic beverages are forbidden (although onboard happy-hours are “discretionary”).

Ride-Sharing (No Boat? No Problem!)
To accommodate our out-of-town (or currently “boat-less”) members, please let us know if you have space on your boat and are willing to share a ride. If you’re looking to hitch a ride, contact us for details.
Weather
The weather at this time of the year can be somewhat “fickle”, but not unpleasant. Temperatures are expected to be in the 90s (so bring your sunscreen!) and early-afternoon rain showers are to be anticipated.
Lodging
The Mount Dora/Tavares area has numerous hotels and bed-and-breakfast facilities in the general vicinity. An internet search for area lodging will provide plenty of options.
